Read my interview with the Apple Wellness experts in my blog.

Nutrition and supplementation are a necessary part of maintaining balance for myself as an athlete, and anyone who desires a life of healthfulness. There are an incredible amount of supplement companies to choose from, many of which are online. So why do I choose Apple Wellness?

  • Apple Wellness is a local store in Madison Wisconsin with 2 convenient locations. Supplement shopping can be confusing and overwhelming which is why I prefer to shop in person and receive guidance rather than navigating the online world alone.

  • There is always someone at the store to help. Whether it's questions on vitamins or protein powder or what I need to kill my cold, they have knowledgeable staff who is there to answer questions and make suggestions.

  • Apple Wellness is a local family run business. I love supporting small local businesses who genuinely care about the health of their customers and community, just like me!

  • I can get all the supplements I need at Apple Wellness: protein, basic vitamins, pro-biotics, tea, healthy snacks and drinks, just to name a few.

Be sure to mention my name when you stop in and if you need any help in your fitness journey, you know who to call ;)

Samuel Madeira

ND, BSc, on-site herbalist and workshop leader at Montana Wellness Retreat

Dr. Sam Madeira is excited to be teaching about herbal medicines for balancing, tonifying and healing the nervous & endocrine systems at the Montana Wellness Retreat at SpiritWorks Herb Farm!
His two loves are herbal medicine and teaching and he’s excited to share his plant knowledge and clinical experience with you using the living medicinal plants on the farm.

Dr. Sam Madeira began studying herbal medicine in 2003 in the Arizona high desert. He studied botany in the outdoors of northern Arizona and in the botany lab, and completed a three-month long clinical herbal medicine internship. Dr. Madeira graduated from the Herbal Sciences program at Bastyr University’s Department of Botanical Medicine in 2007, and from the Naturopathic Medicine doctorate program in 2012. While at Bastyr University, he worked in the herbal medicine garden for three years growing, harvesting, and tending to many medicinal plants. He planted and harvested his own crop of medicinal plants, made medicine in the herbal medicine-making lab, and was a teacher assistant for the Botanical Medicine 1 Lab section. Dr. Madeira has also attended countless herbal medicine conferences, such as the American Herbalist Guild (AHG) Symposium, the Medicines From the Earth Conference in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and the Southwest Conference in Botanical Medicines in Tempe, Arizona at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Taylor Hollandsworth

On-site chef at the Montana Wellness Retreat

Taylor, our chef for our Montana Wellness Retreat 2019, is a California native who discovered her passion for cooking while traveling the world and experiencing culture through food. There is no better way to experience a place or understand history than through the smell, taste, and textures of it's cuisines. From studying abroad in South America, living in Costa Rica, and backpacking through Europe, Taylor found inspiration throughout all her journeys. She graduated with a degree in foreign languages and business from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado but found her niche after many years in the hospitality industry. She has been a barista, a server in fine dining establishments, a wine connoisseur, and more recently working as a stewardess/chef on yachts and doing freelance chef work for retreats and music festivals.

Taylor's goal is to heal the world through food. Although well versed in many areas of culinary arts, her mission is mostly plant based; supporting a local, organic, and holistic approach to food. She received her certification in Raw Cuisine, Plant Based Baking, Cheese and Fermentation and Sports Nutrition while studying in Berlin, Germany; the vegan capital of Europe. She is currently pursuing a certification as an Integrative Nutrition Coach, and focusing on helping others feed and nourish themselves beyond their plates.

After attending the first Montana Wellness Retreat, and experiencing such a unique and special place as SpiritWorks Farm, Taylor is excited to return and be a part of the staff with intentions of providing delicious, healthy, and memorable dishes to sustain guests after intensive workouts and the spiritual healing workshops that take place. Much of the produce will be sourced directly from the farm, providing an even deeper level of nourishment and benefits.

With food comes, community, love, and even better spent in nature. She is looking forward to meeting you all!

Amanda Tippett

Amanda Tippett is originally from the Mount Horeb area, where she resided for years before returning to her family’s roots in NW Illinois.  She had been working as a professional in sales for 18 years. In 2009, Amanda was introduced to the Law of Attraction and the effects of positive thinking.  Since then, her journey started. Her strong desire to empower others led her into the field of hypnosis. The understanding that we can change our lives by changing our thoughts, is what ignited her passion to pass this onto others.  Amanda started her hypnosis training in 2010 completing her certification in September of 2011. This also started her journey in mindfulness and meditation. With working full time and living a busy lifestyle, it is more important than ever for her (and all of us) to practice and live in a mindset that promotes an awareness that cultivates connectedness to the higher self.  Through hypnosis, mindfulness, and meditation her dream is to help others see what’s going on in their own lives without judgment and allow us to react to life appropriately with attention to our purpose. She is eager to help others manifest what they want out of life. Her caring and compassionate nature allows her to easily connect with others while creating an environment for personal growth and positive change.

Her training allows her to help with smoking cessation, weight loss, self confidence, stress, and any area of your life where you might be experiencing a "road block".

Stay tuned for upcoming collaborations!
